Super Bowl LIX is set to take place on February 9, 2025, with a major headliner taking the stage, who will be joined by a guest star.

The guest star set to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show is already generating plenty of buzz. Even online users, who aren’t diehard football fans, are vowing to tune in just for the chance to watch the singer’s highly anticipated performance.

The NFL announced that singer-songwriter, SZA, will join rapper and Grammy-award-winning artist, Kenrick Lamar, for a thrilling performance at the Super Bowl halftime show. The news was revealed alongsideĀ a playful videoĀ of SZA splashing Kendrick with a blue drink, reminiscent of the celebratory splash a winning team might give their coach after a big game.

SZA also posted the playful video,Ā captioningĀ it, “Taking the stage with @Kendricklamar! #AppleMusicHalftime #SBLIX.” The duo will perform at the Caesars SuperdomeĀ in New OrleansĀ on February 9.

Fans are excited to watch SZA take the big stage. One fanĀ admitted,Ā “Only watching the super bowl for sza [sic].”Ā For some, the excitement is palpable, with one fanĀ writing,Ā “Probably only watching the Super Bowl to watch SZA perform.”Ā “I’m super excited,”Ā exclaimedĀ another fan, showing just how much SZA’s performance is generating buzz.

A user who isn’t a football fan, playfullyĀ declared, “SZA BOWL! I don’t watch football but I will now! šŸ˜œ.” “I just heard sza is performing at the super bowl…. I WILL BE WATCHING [sic],”Ā saidĀ another excited fan.

Other fans areĀ hopingĀ for a miracle,Ā “Omg, can’t wait. Now if you just so happen to have an extra pair of tickets…….lol.”Ā One fanĀ jokedĀ about Kendrick Lamar’s collaboration,Ā “Kendrick knew he didn’t have enough hits to do a Super Bowl performance that’s why he brought along SZA. That was the smartest choice he could’ve made.”

SZAĀ has been on a winning streak lately, with her album “SOS Deluxe: Lana” topping music charts. Her film, “One of Them Days,” featuring actress Keke Palmer, is also performing well. The singer, who has won the Grammy four times, has also receivedĀ four nominationsĀ at the 2025 iHeartRadio Awards.

The pop star, whose real name is SolĆ”na Imani Rowe, drew two nominations for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song at the 2025 Grammy nominations, bringing her totalĀ nomination count to 26.

SZA celebrated herself and her successes on Instagram, including her inclusion as a guest star in the Super Bowl halftime show,Ā writing, “LIFE TOO SHORT TO PLAY SMALL AND NOT PRIORITIZE SELF LOVE AND SELF ACCEPTANCE! Prior to SZA’s news, Kendrick made the announcement in September 2024 that heĀ would be headliningĀ the halftime show. In a short clip shared on YouTube, he encouraged his fans to dress up in their best attire, even if they would be watching from home.

The rapper, who has won 17 Grammys so far in his career, is excited to take on this coveted task. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” heĀ wroteĀ in a statement. Kendrick is also the first musician outside of classical and jazz to win a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album “DAMN.”

NFL head of music Seth Dudowsky is confident in Kendrick’s ability to perform exceptionally. “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar,” heĀ said. Seth added that Kendrick had constantly shown his special ability to resonate, redefine, and ultimately transform the core of hip-hop.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show,”Ā sharedĀ Seth.

Before the big performance, the Super BowlĀ pregame entertainmentĀ will take place. It will also be star-studded, featuring Jon Batiste performing the National Anthem, Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle taking on “America the Beautiful,” and Ledisi singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

After the Super Bowl halftime show,Ā Kendrick LamarĀ and SZA will be gearing up for aĀ Grand National TourĀ across the US and Canada. The tour, which will support Kendrick’s sixth studio album “GNX,” wasĀ announced onĀ December 3, 2024, just 11 days after the album’s release.

“GNX” includes two standout collaborations with SZA, further adding excitement to their upcoming joint tour, which will start on April 19 in Minneapolis and end in Washington on June 18.

As some fans await Kendrick and SZA’s performance at the Super Bowl, others are keen to watch two of the best teams that will be going head-to-head on the field.

For those who won’t make it to Caesars Superdome, located at 1500 Sugar Bowl Drive in New Orleans, LouisianaĀ there are multiple ways to tune in to the sporting event.Ā It will beĀ broadcast live on FOX, with national coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. ET. Viewers with connected televisions can also stream the game via the NFL and Tubi channels.

The NFL Network will provide more than 70 hours of live coverage throughout Super Bowl week. According to its Instagram page, the opening game will feature the Kansas City Chiefs facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The NFL also shared a detailed diagram of theĀ 2024-2025 NFL playoffs, showcasing all the teams the Chiefs and Eagles defeated on their way to Super Bowl LIX.

The Eagles snagged their Super Bowl LIX spot after playing a game against the Washington Commanders on January 26, in a National Football Conference (NFC) Championship Game.Ā The Commanders lost 55-23 against the opponents.

The Eagles’ 55 points set an NFC Championship game record with Jalen HurtsĀ scoring three touchdownsĀ and throwing for one. The NFL declared Hurts’ team NFC Champions in an Instagram post, where itĀ wrote, “Back on top of the NFC šŸ¦… #SBLIX.”

On the other hand, the Chiefs became theĀ American Football Conference (AFC) ChampionsĀ after beating the Buffalo Bills 32-29. This was the fifth time in six seasons that the team will be going to the Super Bowl.

The NFL shared an Instagram picture of the Chiefs to celebrate their win and qualification into the Super Bowl. The post wasĀ captioned, “For the 5th time in the last six years, the @chiefs are AFC Champions. #SBLIX.”
