My dog is annoying as hell when i take him to the beach. It doesn’t matter how far out I am, he will swim to me, bite my wrist, and try to pull me to shore. Love him but as someone who loves to swim, i could go without the attempted rescue. So sweet.
My Golden has nearly drown once at the beach trying to ‘rescue’ a surfer. Ppl on the beach were all panicked for him we were in the water trying to get him & once on dry land he’s concerned was still the surfer. He hasn’t done it again since but he will frequently stand next to random surfers and check out the surf with them. When they look down at him he looks at them and bk at the waves. I think he is a self appointed life guard.
Awwww. I have a golden doodle and know she would try to do the same thing. She loves to swim. My best friend also has a golden doodle. Sweetest dogs ever. Will be getting golden doodles as a pet my whole life. Her personality is so cute loving and so so so so smart. Almost too smart. 100% recommended.
I really hate to bring this up but this story can’t help but remind me. A large group of family and friends went to Lake Roosevelt in AZ and this one guy, who I’d met a handful of times, had a pitbull that he brought along with. There was something floating out in the lake and that dog went swimming right out to retrieve it. He grasped it by the neck and brought it to shore.
It turned out to be a fawn maybe 3-4 weeks old. Once back to land, the fawn started to try pulling away from the clutches of the dogs mouth when the dog violently shook it like a rag doll and you could hear the neck snapping, I’ll never forget that sound.
