Much of the internet has been left divided after a passenger was forced to give up their first class seat for a dog.
We’ve heard countless stories online of a passenger being kicked out of their seat for a fellow human traveler, but being forced to move starts for an animal? Well, that’s a new one.
A traveller explained his nightmare travel story on Reddit, and it included a picture of the dog with its owner.
“I got upgraded to first this morning, only to 15 mins later get downgraded (to a worst seat than I previously had). I asked the desk agent what was going on and she said ‘something changed’,” the Reddit user began.

“Okay, fine, I am disgruntled but whatever, I then board only to see this dog in my first class seat … And now I’m livid.”
The passenger went on to explain how he contacted the airline in question to be told ‘you may be relocated for service animals’ and that they couldn’t do anything to help.
“There is no way that dog has spent as much with this airline as I have … What an absolute joke,” the Redditor continued.
“What’s the point of being loyal to this airline anymore, truly. I’ve sat back when others complained about this airline mistreating customers lately and slipping in service levels, but I’m starting to question my allegiance as well.”
Many have flocked to the comments section of the Reddit post and it’s fare to say people are divided.
“Yeah, donât blame the dog, he has no choice. Shame the owner,” one person commented.

A second added: “If youâd paid for your seat then I think itâs a legitimate gripe. Complimentary upgrades can be taken away for a variety of reasons though, not just service dogs, without compensation.
“Doesnât hurt to try with a complaint email, but be prepared for a second rejection just in case.”
While a third commented: “That sucks. I donât see why they canât at least put you back where you were and move whoever got upgraded back where they were.
“Or better yet, why donât they know about this need ahead of time?”
And a fourth quipped: “Notice how nowhere else in life do you see this quantity of service animals? Go to the airport and all of a sudden they appear.”

A passenger has divided opinion online after revealing a hack to stop fellow flyers from reclining their seat on an aircraft.
While most of us will likely jump on a plane later this year for a summer getaway, those who are more frequent flyers will know about the importance of travel etiquette.
Whether it be the food you should ‘never eat’ on a plane, or taking pictures out of the window – there is a lot to consider.

Now, a woman has detailed a hack that will stop the passenger sat in front of you from reclining and leaving you with less space on the aircraft.
The passenger, who detailed the hack on TikTok under the username @clareduggan1982, revealed that she places her tray table down and wedges a large Pringles can between it and the seat.
Presumably this will work with items that are of the same dimension of the Pringles tube, and if it does, then the person in front shouldn’t be able to recline their seat anymore.
“This is the best life hack when you’ve got someone in front who is trying to put the seat down constantly,” Clare told her followers.
The video gone viral after being viewed more than 1.5 million times on TikTok at the time of writing, though a few are not too impressed.
“This is ridiculous and quite frankly, you should be banned from flying… bloody pathetic,” one person commented.
A second added: “Clever! But they are entitled to put seat back, like,” while a third remarked: “I pay for a reclining seat it goes back. If you donât like it fly private.”
Not everyone was against the hack, however, with a fellow TikTok user offering their point of view by saying: “They should just have set times when people can recline seats. It’s fine during restful hours, but the worst thing is if you’re eating your meals and someone reclines.”

And another quipped: “They need to remove the recline option or create more room between the seats.”
Meanwhile, a fellow TikTok user in favour of Clare’s hack stated: “I do not understand why plane seats do not recline in their own shell so it only affects the seat users own space.”
And a fellow passenger shared their own hack. They wrote: “I did this with the water bottles. Eight-hour flight with someone’s seat touching your nose. No thank you. I didnât put my seat back out of respect for the people behind.”

As we approach the summer months and many start to head on their vacations, the topic of travel etiquette comes more into the limelight.
There is no right and wrong when it comes to doing this whole travel malarky, though many on social media have thoughts on what’s right and wrong.
Now, there’s been a lot of back and forth about if planes should be more accommodating to plus-size passengers, including allowing them free seats if required, along with having bigger bathrooms.
One 34-year-old plus-size passenger ended up shelling out for an extra seat in order to be more comfortable on her flight – but still ended up getting grief from other passengers.
The woman said she has previously experienced discomfort when attempting to fit into a single seat onboard due to her weight.
However, the woman’s plan to have a nice and relaxing flight on the two seats was quickly dashed when a young mother requested that she ‘squeeze into one seat’ so her young son could occupy the other seat.

On the ‘AmItheA**hole’ Reddit forum, the woman penned: “I am obese. I’m actively working toward losing weight, and I’ve made progress – but I booked an extra seat because I’m fat.”
She added: “[The mother] made a big fuss over it, and she told the flight attendant I was stealing the seat from her son.
“Then I showed her my boarding passes, proving that I paid for the extra seat. The flight attendant asked me if I could try to squeeze in, but I said no, that I wanted the extra seat I paid for.”
The passenger argued that the toddler – who was just 18 months old – would not require a seat for the flight and that he could sit on his mother’s lap.
“The flight attendant asked me if I could try to squeeze in, but I said no, that I wanted the extra seat I paid for,” the woman added on Reddit.
She continued: “The flight attendant eventually told the mom to put her son in her lap. I got dirty looks and passive-aggressive remarks from her for the entire flight.”
Many Redditors have since flocked to the comments section of the post to reveal whether they think the woman is in the right or wrong.

“She’s (the mother) the a**hole for not buying a seat for her son and assuming someone else would give up a seat they paid,” one person penned.
“Never give up your seat that you paid extra for. F**k that mom for making her problem your problem. You did nothing wrong,” a second penned.
A third said: “People buy entire seats for high-end musical equipment. Not even people. Like, get bent.
“Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part.”

A woman refused to let another passenger take advantage of the person she was sat next to and went on to be applauded for helping her.
Sitting with your friends and family on a long haul flight is a must for many – something which many airlines will charge you for.
And one passenger on TikToker Cristina’s flight tried to get another woman to move so that she could sit with her friend on a flight from Hawaii to Seattle.
Usually this wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but the woman was requesting that she moved up to premium economy to be with her pal, while the other solo flyer would take her seat at the back of plane.
A fair deal? Hardly.
Seeing this injustice unfolding in front of her, Cristina stepped in.
She explained in her now-viral TikTok video: “Weâre in premium economy. Weâre like in row eight with all the unlimited drinks and snacks. So the lady next to me is like, ‘Oh you know we switch seats? Um, OK, right.’
“And so she starts getting up and Iâm like, no!”
Noting that she was Chinese and that the lady next to her was Japanese, the pair used their Asian ethnicities to their advantage and pretended that they were travelling together.
Cristina went on: “I was like, ‘Except for the fact that we are traveling together. Hello? Weâre both Asian, of course, we know each other. And 26 is not premium economy… itâs like you can smell the toilet back there.
“The little Asian lady next to me is like half like standing up and⊠she looks over at me and I go, ‘Sit down, Connie!'”

However, the person asking was not convinced that the pair were actually travelling together. So, Cristina employed a trick and spoke to the woman next to her in Cantonese, assuming that as the person asking was not Asian, she wouldn’t know the difference.
She said: “I look over at the Asian lady next to me and I start speaking to her in Cantonese, which is totally the wrong language for her, but this lady [in 26] is not Asian, so sheâs not gonna know the difference.”
It seems that her companion immediately caught on. She said: “The Asian lady looks at me and sheâs like yeah, and then she responds to me in Japanese. And Iâm like, ‘Mmhmm, thatâs right.'”

The trick actually worked as the lady eventually returned to her seat.
Cristina finished off her video saying that if they had wanted to sit together they should have booked seats next to each other, ‘not 20 rows behind’.
Fellow TikTokers were quick to praise Cristina for her heroic deed, hailing her as ‘awesome’.

A plane passenger and TikTok user has sparked debate online after sharing her decision not to give up her seat to a mom traveling with her son.
As soon as you hear of this situation, it’s easy to picture the scene: a woman sitting comfortably in her chair, settling in ready for the flight when she’s approached by a stressed-out looking mom with a toddler in tow.
For whatever reason, the mom and toddler aren’t sitting together, so the mom asks the woman to swap seats.
Though she probably could have taken better steps earlier to ensure she and her son were sitting together, it’s not a totally unreasonable request, right?

Well, what about if the son actually wasn’t a toddler at all?
In her TikTok video, passenger Surya Garg asked viewers for their opinions as she explained that she’d typically be okay with giving up her seat if approached by a family with young kids.
“I remember people giving up their seats for me and my brother when I was younger so we could be next to our parents, I get it,” she said.
However, Surya then continued: “Tonight, I not only got asked to give up my window seat, so that I could sit in a middle seat, but the quote-unquote family that asked me to do this was a mother and her son – her son had to be a minimum of like 16 or 17 years old.
“This mans was 6’4″, talking on the phone to his girlfriend the entire time we were boarding.”

Surya claimed the son was at least 16 (TikTok/@surya_garg)
Since Surya was already seated, she decided to politely decline the mom’s request and explain to her that she’d paid extra for the seat.
This apparently didn’t go down well with the mom, as Surya continued: “This woman makes the nastiest face at me I’ve ever experienced, sits down next to me in the middle seat [and] her son goes back to the middle seat he was assigned to.”
The TikToker then claimed that the mom spent the whole flight ‘muttering profanities’ at her.
“Was I in the wrong here?” Surya asked.
Many viewers quickly weighed in to share their thoughts and there were a lot of people on Surya’s side, with one viewer writing: “You are not wrong! And Iâm a mom but of littles. We always plan and pay the extra to sit together however⊔
“People should just buy their seats! Not giving up my window â that I paid for â for a middle seat!,” another added.
However, other viewers stuck up for the mom in the situation, with one saying they would give up their seat ‘100% of the time’.
“As a parent we only have a solid 18 years before they go out on there [sic] own […],” they added.
Another pointed out there may have been other factors to account for, saying: “l understand, sometimes though people have non-visible disabilities like my adult son, so in that case that would have been really helpful.”
Surya’s video has so far amassed more than 1.5 million views.
