The fact that the pocket watch stopped at the same time Titanic went under the waves gave me the most chills. It means that its owner held on to the very last second, and was determined to survive against all odds.
My great uncle, Phillip Wiseman was a third-class passenger and a merchant bringing back books and materials to Quebec, Canada. Leaving his wife and 4 sons in Quebec. His wife later sued for 50k. Most of his family is buried in Wyandotte Michigan with my 2 month old brother being buried at the foot of one of his sons.
I’ve been to the titanic museum twice. Looking at the artifacts were so eerie. I saw Molly Browns talisman that she carried in her pocket. That was the one that stood out the most to me. I’m very surprised this wasn’t mentioned on this list. Margaret (Molly) Brown went to Cairo before her voyage. She had her fortune told.
The fortune teller told her do not go near water. She bought the talisman for protection and for luck. When she got back home from Cairo she had a letter saying her nephew was sick so she booked passage on the titanic.
After she survived the voyage she gave the talisman to Captain Arthur Rothstron of the rescue ship, The Carpathian. The captain carried it with him until his death in 1940. It’s now at the titanic museum where I saw it in Branson Missouri.
